Privacy Policy — MinifigFolio

MinifigFolio (“the extension”) is a browser extension that lets you track your own purchase and sale prices for LEGO® sets and minifigures on top of Brickset. This policy explains what data it handles and where it goes.

Short version

• All of your data stays on your own device, in the browser’s local extension storage.
• There is no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
• The only time anything leaves your device is when you actively use the photo scanner: the single image you choose is sent to the Brickognize recognition service to identify the item.

Data stored locally (never transmitted)

The extension saves the following in chrome.storage.local, on your device only:

• Your tracked lots (purchase/sale prices, dates, quantities, condition, notes, marketplace, in-transit / for-sale / missing-parts flags).
• Cached item metadata (name, image URL, theme, year) and market values scraped from pages you visit, so the dashboard can show items without re-loading them.
• Your collections and their membership, your custom items, and your settings (grades, marketplaces, currency/locale, sync options).
• Your recent scan history (the last 100 recognised items, with timestamps).

This data is never sent to us or to any third party. We do not have a server and cannot see it. You can export it to a local file, import it, or delete it at any time (including the “Clear browse cache” button in Settings). Uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage removes it completely.

Data sent to third parties

• Brickognize (image recognition). When you use the scanner — camera capture, photo upload, clipboard paste, or the right-click “Search this image” menu — the single image you selected is sent to https://api.brickognize.com to identify the LEGO item. Only that image is sent; no personal data accompanies it. Brickognize’s handling of the image is governed by their own privacy policy (brickognize.com). If you never use the scanner, no image is ever sent.
• To fetch an image you right-click on another website, the extension requests temporary access to that site at the moment you click; the image is then sent to Brickognize as described above.

Pages the extension runs on

The extension’s content scripts run on brickset.com and bricklink.com pages to read prices and item details and to display your tracked prices. On Brickset it can also fill Brickset’s own “I own” / “I want” / quantity fields on your behalf. All of this happens locally in your browser; the extension itself transmits none of it. Your use of Brickset and BrickLink remains subject to those sites’ own privacy policies.

Permissions, in plain terms

• storage — save your data locally (above).
• contextMenus — add the right-click “Search this image” entry.
• Access to api.brickognize.com — send the scanned image for recognition.
• Access to brickset.com / bricklink.com — read and enhance those pages.
• Optional access to other sites — requested only when you right-click an image there, to fetch that one image.

Data selling and sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data. Nothing is transferred anywhere except the scan image you send to Brickognize by using the scanner.

Children

The extension is a hobby collection tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new “Last updated” date.
