Privacy Policy — MinifigFolio

MinifigFolio (“the extension”) is a browser extension that scrapes LEGO® set and minifigure prices and catalog data for the companion MinifigFolio web app. The extension has no collection-management UI of its own any more — that lives in the web app. This policy covers the extension only; see the web app for its own privacy policy.

Short version

• The extension requires a MinifigFolio account (email + password, via the web app’s Supabase backend). Signed out, it does nothing at all.
• What it scrapes while you browse Brickset, BrickLink and BrickEconomy is sent to the MinifigFolio app so your account’s catalog stays up to date.
• There is no advertising and no analytics.
• The only image ever sent anywhere is the one you right-click and choose to search — and even that goes to the web app, not directly to a third party from the extension.

Data stored locally (on your device)

The extension keeps the following in chrome.storage.local:

• Your sign-in session (an access/refresh token pair). Your password is never stored — only the token pair, obtained once at sign-in.
• A read-only mirror of your portfolio, pulled from the app periodically, used only to keep Brickset’s/BrickEconomy’s own “owned” fields in sync (see below).
• Item metadata and market values scraped from pages you visit, cached so repeat visits don’t need to re-scrape, and so they can be pushed to the app.
• Your settings (which sources are enabled, the owned-count write-back options, scraping pace).

Data sent to the MinifigFolio app

Everything the extension scrapes — item names, images, themes, market values, BrickLink sold averages, BrickEconomy insights — is sent to your MinifigFolio account so the app’s catalog and your portfolio’s valuation stay current. This requires being signed in. The app account is a Supabase project operated as part of MinifigFolio; your email and the scraped catalog/portfolio data reside there. See the web app’s own privacy policy for how it handles that data server-side.

Data sent to other third parties

• Photo recognition (Brickognize). The extension’s right-click “Search this image with Minifig Folio” context menu fetches the image you clicked and opens it in the MinifigFolio app’s scanner page. The app — not the extension — then sends that image to the Brickognize recognition service to identify the item. If you never use this menu entry, no image is ever touched.
• To fetch an image you right-click on another website, the extension requests temporary access to that site at the moment you click.

Pages the extension runs on

The extension’s content scripts run on brickset.com, bricklink.com and brickeconomy.com pages to read prices and item details. On Brickset and BrickEconomy it can also fill in your tracked owned count and tick their “I want” / loose-owned fields on your behalf — the one thing it writes back into those sites. Your use of those sites remains subject to their own privacy policies.

Permissions, in plain terms

• storage — save your session, cache and settings locally (above).
• contextMenus — add the right-click “Search this image with Minifig Folio” entry.
• alarms — run the periodic sync with the app in the background.
• Access to brickset.com, bricklink.com, brickeconomy.com — read those pages.
• Access to the MinifigFolio app’s own origin — push scraped data, pull your portfolio, sign in.
• Optional access to other sites — requested only when you right-click an image there, to fetch that one image.

Data selling and sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data. Scraped catalog/portfolio data goes to your own MinifigFolio account; a right-clicked image goes to the app’s scanner (which uses Brickognize) only when you choose to search it.

Children

The extension is a hobby collection tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new “Last updated” date.
